This is the largest black bear skull we have handled to date! A beautiful example of the species that is in remarkable condition. To start with, it’s a professionally cleaned skull that has amazing condition in the teeth (especially for a bear of this size/age). Canines are among the most beautiful (see attached photos) we have had with little cracking or chipping that are so common, especially in large older bears. Even the molars and incisors are in very good condition throughout the mouth.
Overall size is the best part of this gorgeous bear skull. The length is 12 3/8″ with a width of 7 7/8″. This totals a score of 20 2/8″ which exceeds the requirement for the Awards Class at Boone and Crockett Club. With the overall size and amazing condition, we have graded this item as “World Class” for desirability and appearance. This skull would make a feature item for the collector.
